How to start streaming: tips for beginners

Mar 24, 2022
Alas, becoming popular today is not as easy as it was a few years ago. Now there are already many high-quality channels with gaming air, the authors of which have honed their skills and brought them to the ideal.
But this does not mean at all that the niche is already completely occupied. You can easily find your place on youtube or twitch if you orient yourself in the subject correctly. Look for your own unoccupied niche - one in which broadcasters are not very experienced authors, where there are few or none at all. It can be rare games or fresh add-ons, additional custom add-ons for games, or even just new projects that no one has had time to pay much attention to or get access to.
You can also catch the hype, having received one of the first access to the new version of the game even before the release. This way you will attract additional attention to your channel from gamers who are just waiting for the release of the game and are ready to watch absolutely all the videos about the upcoming project. Thus, you can get popularity and views. And also - to receive donations from those who learned new valuable information from the video.
The difficulty here is that it's not easy for a new streamer to get deluxe or press access to a game before it's released - you have to put in a lot of effort at the initial stage. But if you believe in yourself, then everything will work out sooner or later.
If you are not very confident in yourself and communication, you can make a channel dedicated to simpler topics. For example, you can stream retro games, j-rpgs or quests, revealing complex mysteries in them. For example, not so many gamers passed Myst at one time - many fell asleep on parts of the tasks, and will be happy to find out how to solve them. And you can help them do it.
And finally, a little advice: make a video not just with your passage, but also with the disclosure of the main chips, game aspects and gameplay features. The way you play is a lot less interesting to people than what they get if they play too.
And one moment. Before you stream, do a “test walkthrough” of the game: it is unlikely that viewers will be interested in watching you struggle for an hour to solve a riddle in a quest or die over and over again in a shooter.
Train your diction
What distinguishes a large TV channel from a local one, and a popular steam broadcast from a failed one? The behavior of the author in the frame, his neat appearance and, of course, diction. Believe me, even the most interesting information will not be perceived by the audience and they will not watch you if you speak indistinctly, often use “stray” words or “eke”.
Simply put, if you want to be watched, you will have to work hard on your speech and diction, watch your words and maybe even write pre-texts - so as not to get lost during steam.
Just do not try to read them from a sheet. You can discreetly hang clues in front of your eyes, but nothing more.
You will also need to work on your emotions. After all, you can’t act like an inanimate statue in the frame - you simply have to react to what is happening in the game. Moreover, it is realistic, and not feigned, excessive and false. So be sure to work on how to qualitatively give out anger, fear, delight, joy and other common emotions. Yes, it's hard, but without it, you won't be on the same level as the top streamers.
